Hayley Matthews is the Hero of the Match for her brilliant spell. She says that the pitch was aiding her and she tried to keep it in the right areas. Adds that the lengths were important since there was turn and bounce. She shares that Lauren Cheatle was bowling well and it wasn't easy for them to bat in the middle. Ends by adding that they are playing some great cricket and someone is chipping in almost every game to get them over the line.
Southern Brave Women did not have a huge score to defend but they tried hard to take the game close. Lauren Cheatle bowled a sensational spell by giving away just 8 runs and picking two wickets. Tilly Corteen-Coleman and Georgia Adams were economical but it was the batting unit that let them down. Earlier in the day, Southern Brave Women were dismissed for just 84 runs with Georgia Adams top-scoring with 17. Southern Brave Women are yet to get off the mark in the competition and their chances of going further are almost over.
A thoroughly professional performance from the Welsh Fire Women sees them defeat the Southern Brave Women by 7 wickets in Cardiff. Chasing a paltry score of 85 for the win, the Welsh Fire Women lost Sophia Dunkley and Hayley Matthews cheaply but skipper Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Bryce stitched a 31-run stand to steady the innings. Beaumont departs to a ripper of a delivery on 31 but Bryce carried on and took her side home in company of Jess Jonassen. Welsh Fire Women add two more points to their tally and stem their position at the top of the order.
