Jonny Bairstow wins the Player of the Match award. He says they have been part of a couple of close games but it was a matter of closing the game out. Tells they have the skills to defend such total and the conditions favour them as well. Shares two runs outs were handy and felt was the turning point. The players' work ethics have been brilliant and is happy with the way guys are stepping up.
The fielding and bowling were top notch from Welsh Fire! They had to be as Welsh Fire were few runs short. However, under such conditions and a difficult pitch, it was important for someone like Jonny Bairstow to play his natural game and make the difference. His fifty was really valuable. Later on, Welsh Fire stuck with bowlers who got turn and grip. David Payne's spell turned out to be the match-winning one.
Trent Rockets were favourites almost for the majority of the game. They took the calculative approach and looked under control for a long time. However, we feel the game flipped when Joe Root got run out. It was the key moment. Trent Rockets still had batters but Rovman Powell fell, Rashid Khan then was involved in a run out with Hain once again. Trent Rockets though would have got it done with Sam Hain out there for a majority of the time but he struggled, he really struggled and that just helped Welsh Fire to pull out a fine victory.
Welsh Fire have won it out of nowhere. What a game. Full credit to Welsh Fire as at the break they would have thought they were 10-15 runs short but they hung in the game right till the end and with some crafty bowling mainly from David Payne and Haris Rauf have helped them get the points.
