Peter Siddle picked a 5-wicket haul, his second-best figures in BBL but it's Matthew Short who is chosen for the Player of the Match award for his all-round contribution. He says that the pep talk before the game worked. States he wanted to keep it simple and he is happy with the win. Adds that his go-to shots came off well. Mentions such targets can be tricky but it was good to get a few early and put pressure on the Hobart bowlers. Praises Peter Siddle for his bowling effort. Admits that a few close losses made the boys a little flat and hopes that this win will get their season underway.
The year 2022 has not been kind to Hobart Hurricanes so far as they faced their second defeat on the trot. To be honest, they were never in this game and got completely outplayed. With the bat, Ben McDermott had an off day and the rest of the batting lacked the spark to take the Hurricanes to a fighting total. With the ball, Hobart needed early wickets but instead, they leaked runs in the first four overs. Matthew Short had an outstanding match. He did an amazing job with the ball and then his knock didn't allow Hobart Hurricanes any opening.
A commanding performance from Adelaide Strikers to earn their second win of the season. They are still hanging in there although only by the skin of their teeth. The overall show this evening would please them. It was clinical, to say the least. The bowling was accurate, led by the evergreen Peter Siddle who claimed a 5-wicket haul and then Matthew Short made sure that the target is overhauled without much of an issue. Crucial points are secured to end the 6-match losing streak and also to lift Adelaide Strikers from the foot of the table.
