Right then. That is all we have from this game. The action in the BBL will continue on Friday, the 14th of January. Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers will lock horns at 5:10 am IST (11:40 pm GMT, previous day) so do join us for that and also for the buildup which begins in advance. See you there. Take care and goodbye!
No surprises here as Glenn Maxwell is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his blistering 68-run knock.
It was a tough game for Melbourne Renegades. They did not have a big score and needed a miracle to defend this. They did get a couple of early wickets but the Maxwell storm blew them. Too much was asked from their bowlers and despite their best efforts, they had no chance of defending once Maxwell got going.
Melbourne Stars had a low target to chase and they came out with the intent to chase it down as quickly as possible. Joe Clarke and Beau Webster fell early but Glenn Maxwell, who opened the innings in this game had no intentions of taking things slow. He did cut loose and put the pressure back on the bowlers. They secured the Bash Boost point with ease and there was a bit of a lean phase before the Power Surge was taken. They did lose a couple of more wickets but once the Power Surge was taken, Maxwell decided to finish the game and he had no qualms in doing so.
A thumping win for Melbourne Stars and they will be very happy with the way they played! They have got the Bash Boost point and also gotten 3 important points in this game. But it was a different story for Melbourne Renegades as they were outplayed once again.
