Right then, that is it from this enthralling tie and Mumbai have managed to climb up the table with a crucial win. The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is keeping up to its expectations and the action continues on Wednesday, 19th April as Rajasthan take on Lucknow at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The game is at 7.30 pm (2 pm GMT), but the build-up will begin well in advance. Do join us and until then, goodbye and cheers!
Cameron Green is the Player of the Match for his all-round effort scoring 64 in 40 deliveries with the bat and ending with match figures of 4-0-29-1 with the ball. He says that the first couple of games were a learning curve for him and the team but now they have three wins in a row. Claims that they were in a bit of a sticky situation at the end but they stuck to their plan and he is glad they came through. Mentions that his death bowling is a work in progress and hopefully he can get there. Ends by saying that they want to keep the winning momentum going.
Rohit Sharma the skipper of Mumbai says that he loves playing at this ground and has fond memories as he has played three years here and also won one trophy. Adds that it is important to back the young players and they are improving game by game which is great to see. Mentions that he is liking what he is doing and it is crucial to utilize the Powerplay and one of him or Ishan Kishan tries to go big. Praises Tilak Varma by saying that he is a really good player and his approach is great as he plays the ball and not the bowler which shows great maturity. Tells that it is quite exciting to see Arjun Tendulkar play as he has been part of this team for the last three years and he is quite confident in himself. Adds that Arjun tries to swing the ball upfront and then nail the yorkers at the death so it is good to see him developing.
Time for the presentations...
Arjun Tendulkar is up for a chat and he says that it was great to get his first wicket in this league. Adds that he was just focusing on his plan to bowl wide and execute them for the team. Mentions that he is happy to bowl at any time whenever the skipper needs him and tries to give his best. Tells that he talks about some tactics with his father, Sachin Tendulkar before the games. Ends by saying that he just focuses on his release and if it swings, it is a bonus.
Mumbai got off to a steady start having been asked to bat first but Rohit Sharma failed to convert his start to a big score once again. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green negotiated the spinners in the middle phase well with the latter remaining unbeaten on 64. Tilak Varma was the one who changed the tempo of the inning scoring 37 in just 17 deliveries and Tim David helped them reach an above-par total. The fast bowlers for Hyderabad were expensive but claimed the wickets with Marco Jansen picking two while T Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar chipped in with one each. They leaked far too many runs in the death overs and it was always going to be a tough ask for their batters to chase this down.
The visitors had the momentum on their side after a strong finish to the first inning and Jason Behrendorff got them right on top with two early wickets inside the Powerplay. The middle overs were controlled by Cameron Green and Piyush Chawla with both picking up a wicket each till the opposition started to take the attack to them. Piyush Chawla managed to dismiss the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen against the run of play ending his spell with two wickets and Riley Meredith claimed a couple of crucial scalps to peg Hyderabad back. With 20 runs required to win in the last over, Rohit Sharma opted to give the ball to Arjun Tendulkar in just his second match but he came out with flying colours as two wickets fell in his five balls and just four runs came off it. They will be happy that they finally managed to defend a target in this edition of the Indian T20 league.
Harry Brook started from where he left off with a couple of cracking shots but skied a short delivery and was dismissed, derailing Hyderabad’s run chase early. Rahul Tripathi did not last long either and the onus was on Mayank Agarwal to keep the scoreboard ticking. Aiden Markram came out to the middle and together they added 46 runs for the third wicket but the skipper perished looking to accelerate. Abhishek Sharma could not trouble the scorers much but Heinrich Klaasen got them back in the game scoring 36 runs in 16 balls. He took 20 runs off Piyush Chawla in four balls but was dismissed on the last ball of the same over and Mayank Agarwal followed him back to the shed in the following over. Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar played a few shots to keep them in the hunt but in the end the lack of wickets proved to be decisive for them.
An outstanding last over from Arjun Tendulkar under pressure! What a topsy-turvy encounter we have witnessed but in the end, the five-time champions have managed to hold their nerves to get over the finish line making it three wins in a row. They have come on the road and grabbed a crucial win to move to the top half of the table with a 14-run win. Hyderabad have seen their two-game winning run come to an end after an agonizingly close run chase as they were in the game several times during their reply but kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

OUT! RUN OUT! There was never a double there! Abdul Samad throws his wicket away. This is very full and outside off, Abdul Samad squeezes it towards deep point and tries to come back for the second, but Hrithik Shokeen gets to the ball quickly and throws at the keeper's end where Ishan Kishan does the rest with Samad not even in the frame.
