Right then, that is all we have from this game. The action continues on Friday, 6th May where Gujarat will go head-to-head against Mumbai. That game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). As you know, our coverage will begin well in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
David Warner is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant knock of 92 from 58 balls! He says that the wicket was very nice and it doesn’t matter whether one bats first or second as it was a true wicket and he has had some success here in the past. Adds that he was cooked at the back end and says that Powell was striking very good in the final overs and that helped. Tells that he does not need extra motivation and says that they all know what has happened before and mentions that it is good to get win. He applauds Powell for his hitting at the end. Talks about the shot he played against Bhuvi, says that he pre-meditated that shot as a reverse-scoop and luckily it came off.
Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says there is always room to improve but this gets as close to a perfect batting performance. Mentions that he was trying to take the game deep, he was trying to keep calm in the middle and he kept talking to his bowlers. On Warner's innings, he says that it was a beautiful knock, and it was one of the best knocks he has seen for Delhi in some time now. On Powell, he says that they backed him batting at number 5 and he came out with flying colors. Mentions that they are taking one game at a time and trying to give their 100 percent. Talking about his own wicket, Pant says that yes, he did get out on a full toss, but on some other day that would have been a six. Concludes by saying that it was an important game for them.
Time for the presentation.
Anrich Nortje is down for a chat. He says that he is relieved to be out on the field and it is nice to be playing. Adds that one needs to be a realistic and bowling in the nets is different that bowling in matches and since the last game he was working on his rhythm and now he is feeling like his old self. Tells that Khaleel Ahmed has been bowling well throughout the tournament and all the bowlers have bowled well. Mentions that as a bowler one needs to keep the mind clear and focus on committing to whatever one wants to execute.
Kane Williamson, the skipper of Hyderabad, says that Delhi had a fantastic total on the board, and also they (Hyderabad) did not have a great start with the bat. It is a small ground and less dew and if they had wickets in hand then who knows, it probably could have been different. But he thinks Warner and Powell both were fantastic. Mentions that it's a learning opportunity for Umran Malik, and a lot of learning needs to be done, and as a group, they were put under pressure and Delhi did play well, they still have a few games left and they will look to change things around. On Pooran and Markram, he says that they have been excellent and they have found their rhythm and they got them to close in this game, but they need other players to step up as well, and hopefully, both of them can carry on their form. He mentions that as a batter he always wants more runs and he will look for ways to improve.
Time for some interviews!
Delhi were excellent in the Powerplay but were quite poor in the middle overs. The likes of Marsh and Kuldeep did not have the best of days. However, their bowlers at the death did well to hold their nerve and get their side over the line. Khaleel Ahmed was really good in his return. Shardul Thakur too impressed. However, Delhi will not be pleased with the margin of victory.
The problem was probably the start, they lost 3 in the first  7 overs with not a lot of runs on the board. Markram and Pooran then put on a wonderful partnership which revived the hopes a little. Markram fell but Pooran continued, he got up a fine half ton and kept his side’s hopes alive but a miracle was needed and that wasn’t to be.
A really good effort by Hyderabad to come as close as they did but in the end, it is yet another loss for them. It could have easily been a big one but thanks to Aiden Markram and Pooran they have finished pretty close to the target which did not look possible at one stage.
