Adds that they were about 15 runs short and she says that Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana batted really well. On Vishmi Gunaratne, she says that she is young but she played well. Concludes by saying that they have a young team but they will improve.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after electing to bat first, Sri Lanka Women got off to a brilliant start, courtesy of some fine stroke playing by their opening pair. But once they departed, wickets fell within no time. As a result, they ended up setting a below-par target of 126. Coming to the chase, they leaked runs in the beginning but fought back really well. Their spinners did control the middle phase and did exceptionally well to take it to the final over. However, 15-20 runs more and things could have been different!
The Lankan bowlers did not start that well with the ball but the spinners were quite impressive in the middle overs. At one stage, it seemed like India Women will end this game around the 16th or the 17th over but some very good bowling by Oshadi Ranasinghe and Inoka Ranaweera ensured it was not going to be that easy. However, they just did not have enough runs on the board and ended on the losing side of the game. A good effort though but it's their batting once again that has failed.
Quite a convincing win for India Women yet again! Sri Lanka Women just did not have enough on the board. They were at least 20 runs short of what would have been a competitive total. The openers set the tone with a quick-fire start and then it was about batting sensibly and the Indians did do so. Smriti Mandhana was the top scorer but it was Kaur who stayed there till the end and took her side over the line. There were a few little, little contributions from others too and that was enough for India to make it 2-0.
