India Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 10 wickets

Right then. That's it from the coverage of this game. That does not mean there is no more cricketing action for the day. You all can surely switch tabs and follow the final Test match between England and India. Coming back to this series, India Women have sealed this series as well and these two sides will meet again for the final game of the series. It will be played on July 7th. The first ball will be at 1000 IST (0430 GMT). But as you all know you can join us early for the build up. Till then, take care and goodbye.
Renuka Singh wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AWARD for her exceptional spell with the new ball. She says she is working on her variations and focusing on hitting the hard length. Adds that they assessed the wicket early in the morning, so the plan was to win the toss and bowl well. Shares that they kept it simple, to play to the basics and focus on her strengths.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the victorious skipper is in for a chat. She says they have been talking about the long partnerships and she is really happy to see it finally coming all together. Mentions they focus in the team meeting that every match is a new opportunity and is glad the players lived up to the expectations. Futher adds she is very happy to use the several bowlers at her disposal.
Chamari Atapattu, the Sri Lanka Women skipper says India bowled really well in the start but their bowlers were not good enough and dropped a couple of catches as well. Adds that there should be responsible and the plyers need to improve. On herself, she will try to bat for a longer period as that is her role.
Presentation time...
Earlier in the innings, the Indian bowlers did enough to justify their skipper's decision of bowling first. Renuka Singh was on fire. She picked up three wickets inside Powerplay 1. Even Meghna Singh kept the pressure on the batters with excellent line and length. The spinners also did their job in the middle over and squeezed the run flow. If not for the stand between Anushka Sanjeewani and Nilakshi de Silva, Sri Lanka Women would've bundled out quite early. Later, India chased down the target of 174 without any hiccups.
Sri Lanka looked lackluster with the ball. Their bowling was not up to the mark. They were either too short or too full. Unlike, India they could not maintain the pressure at the start. They lacked in the field as well, with a couple of dropped chances along with leaving huge gaps in the field which allowed the batters to keep rotating the strike. In the end, Sri Lanka were unable to keep their hopes alive to win the series.
In the last ODI match, India chased down a similar target in 38 overs but this time they only required 25.4 overs to get over the line. This tells you everything about the Indian innings. The opening pair was enough for them to get over the line. Smriti Mandhana racked up 94 runs, while Shafali Verma recorded her best score in ODI with an unbeaten 71 off 71 balls. This innings was unlike the Verma we all know. She played a very mature innings and has helped her side to get over the line. All smile in the Indian camp.
A dominating performance by India Women sees them take an unassailable lead in this series. The hosts were unable to put up a fight this time around. India win the game convincingly by 10 wickets here.
