That is it then from this game and also from the St Kitts and Nevis leg of the competition. The caravan now moves to Barbados for the next leg of the group stage and action will resume on Thursday, 31 August with a clash between Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. That game will begin at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT) but you can join a lot earlier for the build-up. Cheers!
Trinbago Knight Riders skipper, Kieron Pollard says that the win is very satisfying. Adds that the Patriots got off to a flier but they got back, stuck to their plans, and executed well. Shares that the Red Card rule is not great and goes largely in favour of the batters. Mentions that they approached the game well and Nicholas Pooran did a fine job at number 3 and alongside Lorcan Tucker, they set the platform for Trinbago Knight Riders. Closes by saying that he and Andre Russell closed out the game well. Adds that pulling the trigger in the 15th over was necessary and the short boundary worked well for him. Informs that they discussed after the loss and came back with better performance in this game.
Sherfane Rutherford, the captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots says that his knock was satisfying for him personally and he did it well but feels they were short by a few runs and will now look to regroup. Adds that the wicket was definitely good but losing wickets at crucial times didn't help and the guys need to reflect on what went wrong. Mentions that it is very tough coming against a team with a lot of power like Trinbago Knight Riders and as a bowling unit we need to do well. Adds that in T20 cricket things can change fast and they just need to keep their focus.
Nicholas Pooran is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his quickfire fifty in a winning cause. Pooran says that he is happy to get two points. Adds that a lot of chat was happening in the dressing room and putting that into action makes it all worth it. Shares that he is in good space and playing cricket with a smile on his face. Mentions that he wants to be consistent and do well for Trinbago Knight Riders. Credits Lorcan Tucker for his innings and says how positive he was and pleased with the partnership. Adds that Dwayne Bravo is amazing and different from others, and calls him a legend. Closes by saying that the fans have been supporting them throughout and want to give them something to be happy about.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Kieron Pollard won the toss and put St Kitts and Nevis Patriots into bat. After losing Evin Lewis early on, Andre Fletcher went on a bit of a rampage but gradually the innings started to slow down. Skipper Sherfane Rutherford though paced his inning to perfection and ensured that he shifted gears in the death overs and took his side close to 180. For Trinbago Knight Riders, Sunil Narine starred with the ball and Dwayne Bravo too was among the wickets.
Yet another outing to forget for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and their woes continue to get worse as they sign off their home leg with another loss. They did start off well with the ball but couldn't control the middle phase with the likes of Dominic Drakes and others unable to get the breakthroughs. Corbin Bosch was the only one who bowled well and picked up three wickets as well. Izharulhaq Naveed however bowled 3 decent overs but crumbled under pressure in his final over and conceded 28 runs after which they had no chance of getting back into the game.
Trinbago Knight Riders get their first win of the campaign in stellar fashion but St Kitts and Nevis Patriots finish the home leg with yet another, their fourth of the campaign so far, and also remain the only side without a win. Chasing 179 for victory, Trinbago Knight Riders lost both their openers early on but then came the crucial stand between Lorcan Tucker and Nicholas Pooran worth 73 runs. Pooran was the aggressor and brought up a quickfire 50 as well before getting out. Tucker played the anchor role well but they needed a big over from someone. The skipper, Kieron Pollard stepped up and put away young Izharulhaq Naveed for four mammoth sixes to completely change the momentum of the game. Andre Russell played a blistering cameo as Pollard finished the game off with yet another biggie.
