Right then, after a long, long delay! Any optimism for the match happening has truly disappeared. The umpires met with both the skippers and shook hands. It is concluded that the match has been ABANDONED. Without a ball being bowled St Kitts and Nevis Patriots were able to get their first point on the board thanks to the rain gods. Trinbago Knight Riders have moved up to the second spot. It is still early days but everything counts. The CPL 2022 action continues on 4th September when Barbados Royals take on Saint Lucia Kings. The first ball will be at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Our build-up though will begin much earlier. Do join us for the same. Till then, take care and goodbye!
UPDATE 7.09 am IST (1.39 am GMT) - We might have just gotten our hopes high. The rain is back and the wind is strong as well. The groundstaff is out in a flash and are placing the covers on the ground now. Just a heads up, the cut-off time for a 5-over game to happen is 8.15 am IST (2.45 am GMT).
Kieron Pollard, the skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders says that they would've bowled first as well. Mentions that the plans don't really change much for a reduced over game. It is all about assessing the conditions initially and going on about it.
Dwayne Bravo, the captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots is in for a chat. He says they will bat second as it's a 12 overs game and they will look for their first win. Adds that they faltered in their field in the past games and there were a few dropped catches but they will improve from their mistakes and they need to play more freely.
Trinbago Knight Riders (Playing XI) - Tion Webster, Tim Seifert (WK), Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard (C), Seekkuge Prasanna, Sunil Narine, Terrance Hinds (In for Shaaron Lewis), Khary Pierre (In for Akeal Hosein), Anderson Phillip, Ravi Rampaul (In for Jayden Seales).

Match 5 of this edition's CPL will be between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders. These are still early days in the season, but both the teams involved in this game have had a contrasting start. The defending champions have lost both their games and are pinned at the bottom of the table, while Trinbago Knight Riders registered a not-so-convincing win in their season opener. Both have had a few areas to address, but St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have more things to fine-tune than the Knight Riders. Their batting has been quite below-par, and the bowling has also not been up to the mark. To add to their woes, the Patriots have dropped as many as nine catches already in this term, and they are lacking in all the facets of the game. Evin Lewis is expected to be fit for this encounter but the fitness of Andre Fletcher is still unknown as he hurt his fingers while attempting a catch in the last match. Trinbago Knight Riders, on the other hand, have opened their account in this edition but would like to become more dominant with their performance. Without a doubt, they are one of the most well-balanced units in the tournament, and everyone expects clinical performances from them. In their opener, the Knight Riders were impressive with the ball, led by Akeal Hosein, and the same will be expected from this group in the coming games as well. On the batting front, they have a serious powerhouse of attacking batters, and Trinbago Knight Riders will be hoping to operate at the highest level. On paper, Kieron Pollard's team is a firm favourite but St Kitts and Nevis Patriots cannot be taken lightly despite their sorry start. Expect a close game.
