Right then! That is all we have from this match. Boxing day action continues in the Big Bash League as Melbourne Renegades battle Perth Scorchers in game number two tonight. That match is live at the moment and you can switch tabs to catch all the action. Cheers!
Dan Christian is adjudged the Player of the Match for his important knock of 41 runs from just 17 balls which helped Sydney Sixers to post a big total on board.
... Presentation ceremony ...
Sydney Thunder will feel that they let the game slip out of their hands. Till the time Jason Sangha was at the crease, they looked to be keeping up with the run rate. Once Sangha fell, their middle-order crumbled. Daniel Sams did get them back into the game with a nice little cameo but it wasn't enough. Ben Cutting just couldn't get into the groove and the wickets kept tumbling. In the end, the target was too steep and the Thunder fell well short as they got bundled out.
Sydney Sixers win their fifth match of the competition and keep pace with arch-rivals Perth Scorchers in the points table. This really was a team effort as the bowlers got the wickets when their team needed it and closed out the match with ease. Pope, Dwarshius and Abbott got a couple of wickets each, whereas Hayden Kerr ended up with three. Mickey Edwards was certainly a livewire in the field as he backed up his wicket by hanging on to three important catches tonight. In the end, it was a very well-compiled performance from the Sixers tonight and they will be pretty pleased with it.
Sydney Sixers as they often do, find a way to win. The Sixers take the points as well as the bragging rights in the Sydney Smash tonight and Sydney Thunder are handed their third loss of the campaign.
