Right then, that will be it from us for this contest. We hope you enjoyed the coverage. Do join tomorrow for the third game in the BBL 2024-25 where the Sydney Thunder will take on the Adelaide Strikers from the Manuka Oval in Canberra. That game will start at 1:45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Moises Henriques wins the Player of the Match award for his blistering knock. He says that it was a nerve-wracking game but they put their best foot forward and got themselves to a winning start. Adds that they bowled well and the wicket was quite good. Shares that they were confident of chasing it down. Mentions that he was trying to watch the ball till the end and hit it well. Adds that they targeted the short boundary and it was always going to be tough for Adam Zampa as they targeted him in the Surge. Credits Ben Dwarshuis and  Sean Abbott who bowled well in the death. Ends by sharing that Joel Davies also did a good job and he is happy for him.
Time for Presentations...
The Melbourne Renegades did not have a match-winning score on the board but they kept fighting till the 15th over. Will Sutherland and Kane Richardson were the pick of the bowlers for the Renegades while the rest had an off day. Earlier today, the Renegades were asked to bat first and they posted 169/7 from their 20 overs with a fine fifty from Tim Seifert while Will Sutherland, Josh Brown, and Jake Fraser-McGurk played handy cameos. It was a decent bowling effort from all the Sixers’ bowlers who were put under pressure but responded pretty well. Joel Davies bowled a tidy spell while Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis took two apiece for their side. The Renegades will look to bounce back in their next outing while the Sixers will hope to carry on their winning start.
The Sydney Sixers have steamrolled the Melbourne Renegades and got their campaign off to a winning start for the 2024-25 season. Chasing 170 for the win, the Sixers lost Josh Phillipe early but Jack Edwards and James Vince kept the scoreboard ticking with a 62-run stand. Both batters were dismissed after getting decent starts but their skipper Moises Henriques played a match-winning knock of 53 off 27 balls to take the side home with ease.
