So, that is it from this game then! There are two games lined-up for you on Wednesday! First it is Hobart Hurricanes taking on Adelaide Strikers and then Sydney Sixers will be taking on Brisbane Heat, which should have ideally happened on Tuesday but is now subject to Heat's players' availability, given that 4 are already ruled out due to Covid. Fingers crossed. The first game though begins at 1235 IST (0705 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye!
Aaron Hardie is the PLayer of the Match, he says that they were struggling and the Power Surge was a make or break for them. Adds that Peter Hatzoglou is a very good athlete and it was fun to play with him. Says that they had a job to make the BBL going and he is happy for his team. Says they will rest and recover tomorrow and go again.
... The Presentation ...
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, Perth were in big trouble as they were 5 down with not much on the board! Hardie along with Agar took them to a competitive score which their bowlers defended despite a wonderful innings by Christian.
Defending something under 150, you need wickets at the start and the Perth bowlers got that. Morris and Mills were deadly with the new ball as they picked 4. Silk and Christian then steadied things with a stand. However, the pace they went at was just pushing the required rate up. Silk then fell when it was time to up the ante. Christian though continued to keep the hopes alive. He got his fifty up. It came down to the last 2 with less than 30 needed. Tye and Mills though held their nerve and took their side over the line.
What a tremendous effort from the Perth bowling attack! Defending low totals is not new to them and they have done it once again. However, a special mention has to be given to Dan Christian. What a knock that was! He is the sole reason the Sixers came so close to Perth's total. Had it not been for him, the margin of defeat could have well been a big one. Had he taken his side over the line, would have been an innings of a lifetime. That was not the case though as Perth kept their cool and remain at the top of the table.
