Man of the Match
Jos Buttler
Commentry
That is it from this one-sided game. Do shift tabs and catch the action between Bangalore and Mumbai. From here, goodbye and cheers!
Jos Buttler is the Player of the Match for scoring 54 off just 22 balls. He says that it was a fantastic start and their last season counts for nothing so they needed a fresh start and this win is a good marker for them. Mentions that they did have plans but they need to react on the day and play the situations. Claims that he is happy with the batting and is trying to keep a clear mind. Ends by saying that a good start in the Powerplay and not losing wickets allowed them to be aggressive.
Sanju Samson the captain of Rajasthan says that he was wondering how they will start and he is happy with how they played and won. Claims that having batters like Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal helps as they play in a certain way in the Powerplay. Mentions that they do not know how the tournament will go and that they need to keep their heads down. Adds that anything can happen going forward and he informs that he wanted to stay till late which he did. Ends by saying that they have their strengths but there will also be weaknesses and through the tournament, it will be found out.
It is time for the presentations and several individual awards have been handed over...
Yuzvendra Chahal has a few words to share. He says that they got a good start in their batting and the way Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted, they knew 200 was a decent score. Mentions that his plan was to vary his pace and bowl straight to Harry Brook which is his strength. Ends by saying he will try a new celebration if he gets a five-wicket haul.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is up for a quick chat. He says that they need to forget this and move forward. Claims that they had a few positives as they were able to pull things back in the last few overs pulled things back and Umran Malik's performance with the bat was nice. Mentions that it is the first match of the season and there is room to improve. He hopes that in the coming matches, they are able to execute their plans. Ends by saying that it was a pretty good track and they can prepare what they want but they are not too worried about it as they look forward to playing better.
Earlier in the game, Rajasthan posted a huge total on the board courtesy of half-centuries from Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. For Hyderabad, Fazalhaq Farooqi and T Natarajan picked up a couple of wickets each while Umran Malik got one to his name. However, most of them were quite expensive and in the end, the total proved to be too much for them.
Rajasthan got off to a flier with Trent Boult starting with a double-wicket maiden by getting rid of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi. That set the tone for them and all of the bowlers backed up brilliantly. Yuzvendra Chahal was brilliant as usual picking up four wickets while Jason Holder and Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with one helping their side to a comfortable win.
Hyderabad never really got going in their innings and losing two crucial wickets in the first over put them on the back foot and they couldn't recover from that. None of the batters looked comfortable out there and with the asking rate always creeping up they crumbled under pressure. Mayank Agarwal played a fighting knock and in the end, two quick cameos from Abdul Samad and Umran Malik made the manner of defeat look much kinder.
A dominating victory for Rajasthan! They were all over the hosts right from the start of the game and never really gave anything away. They start their campaign with a thumping 72-run win while Hyderabad will need to go back to the drawing board and come back stronger in the next match.
