Right then! That is all we have from tonight's game. The action in the Big Bash League will continue on Wednesday, the 12th of January as the Brisbane Heat take on Adelaide Strikers in Brisbane. Two teams are in desperate need of a win and that one will surely be worth the watch. That match will begin at 1:45 pm IST (8:15 am GMT). Do join us early for the buildup as well. Till then, take care and goodbye.
Ben Dwarshuis is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that the wicket was a bit low and slow so they tried to hit the deck hard. Credits Jackson Bird and Sean Abbott for the way they bowled at the top. Adds that it has been a challenging season due to the restrictions so staying together as a team has helped them. Says that they have a great captain and Moises Henriques marshals the troops really well.
Well, the Sydney Sixers must not have felt confident at the interval as they were a bit under par with the bat. They have a strong pace bowling unit and boy, the pacers did come to the party tonight. Jackson Bird and Sean Abbott gave them a strong start and even the young spinner, Todd Murphy picked up an early wicket. After that, the flow of runs was stemmed and once they got those wickets in the Power Surge, Dan Christian wasn't even required to bowl. Shadab Khan too was given the solo over later on and it was Ben Dwarshuis who picked up a fifer tonight the pick of the bowlers. He closed out the innings well and is inching closer to 100 wickets in BBL.
There's not much to talk about the batting of Melbourne Renegades at the moment. They are failing to get beyond scores of 150 and are even finding it difficult just to cross 100 runs in their 20 overs. This is all down to the fact that no batsman wants to spend time at the crease. Shaun Marsh was the only batter who spent time in the middle but just couldn't up the ante when required. Wickets kept tumbling down at regular intervals and the Renegades once again get bundled out. They have plenty of thinking to do.
Sydney Sixers are back to winning ways and they have done so with a stellar all-round performance. The Renegades continue to struggle with the bat and just can't close in on the top 5.
