West Indies Women beat Pakistan Women by 3 runs

Right then, that is it from the game. It was a tight match and West Indies Women just managed to get over the line. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup continues as we have a game lined up next between New Zealand Women versus Sri Lanka Women at 10.30 pm IST (5.00 pm GMT). Do switch tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Bismah Maroof the skipper of Pakistan Women says that it was a close game but they struggled in their batting. Adds that the wicket was good but they fell short of some runs. Ends by saying that they played good cricket throughout and that they will give their best.
Hayley Matthews is the Player of the Match. Says that as a West Indian, she is really happy to end up with a victory to her name. She adds that they knew they would have to perform really well in the field and they executed it well. On her catch, she spoke that it was a reaction one and it stuck in the middle of her palm and never bounced out. She closes by saying the wicket was a bit up-and-down and there was turn on offer for the spinners and they exploited the conditions really well.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the game, West Indies Women struggled with the bat and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Their top order played fine, but the middle order fumbled and managed to post a par total of 116 runs. Nida Dar was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan Women as she ended her spell with 4-0-13-2.
Pakistan Women were under the pump right from the word go. They come close to the last ball courtesy of a fine knock from Aliya Riaz, but she lost her wicket at the very end. They started off slow and fell short by just three runs at the end. They will be hoping to leave this loss behind and come back stronger in their next game. Now, their destiny to qualify is not in their hands after this loss but a solid win in the next game and a favourable result for Ireland Women can help their cause.
Well, well, that was a tight game! It was an excellent bowling display from the West Indies Women's side and they certainly got the job done. They never let the Pakistan batters settle and get in control of the game. They had to defend a low total and boy, did West Indies Women not put on a good show here. They were excellent with their fielding as well. Each of the bowlers was economical, but their skipper, Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers as she picked two wickets, which included a crucial wicket of Bismah Maroof.
