Tom Latham says they batted really well and thought it was a good score but Fakhar Zaman played an outstanding knock. Adds they didn't create enough pressure and it helped Pakistan build partnerships. Shares they will try and create pressure in the middle stages. Hopes to do well in the next game. Tells he is happy to contribute with the bat.
Fakhar Zaman wins the Player of the Match. He says he tries to take time at first then score runs lately. Adds he works on the technique to improve his batting. Feels lucky that the Kiwis dropped his catches. Mentions they have a really good batting line up.
...Presentation next...
It was a really good batting pitch and we felt that the Kiwis were 15-20 runs short as they were all set to score around 350. However, they had enough runs to defend but the spinners were very sloppy lately. Ish Sodhi and Rachin Ravindra were targeted and bulk of the runs were scored against them. They were not at their best in the field as well. The ton from Daryl Mitchell and the knock from Tom Latham helped the Kiwis go over 300 but it turned out not to be enough. New Zealand have to really get better with the ball in the next match if they want to keep this series alive.
Pakistan have chased this mammoth total with so much ease. All thanks to Zaman's knock as he was the mainstay throughout the chase. The others partnered him well. It all started with a fantastic opening stand with Imam-ul-Haq, then came the stand of 135 with Babar Azam. The skipper fell after his fifty but Mohammad Rizwan picked up from there to build another stand and eventually chase it down. His fifty was enough to chase such a score successfully as Fakhar Zaman anchored from the other end really well. A fantastic batting performance from the home team.
