Scotland beat Oman by 8 wickets

We're done with all the games from Group B. Scotland and Bangladesh have booked their place in the Super 12. On Friday, at 2 pm local (10 am GMT), it will be a do-or-die game between Namibia and Ireland to decide the second team to qualify from Group A. We will have another contest in the evening at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT) between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands but there isn't much riding on that game in terms of qualification. Do join us for all the action. Cheers!
Kyle Coetzer, the winning captain of Scotland, says it's a great feeling. He applauds the efforts of Oman and also the management for organizing this stage of the tournament. He adds that this win is huge and will help the game grow in Scotland. Adds that this team is all about togetherness and going through thick and thin and learning from mistakes. Further states that going into the next round, the challenge will be tough but there is no reason to fear anyone and they will go into every game with hope. Tells that bowling has been good and they would like someone to get a big score. Signs off by saying that they will find some time to celebrate tonight.
Zeeshan Maqsood, the skipper of Oman, says that they have lost a chance but they will come back stronger. Adds that they were not able to put a good total on the board and also bowled too short. Further says that they didn't get the breakthroughs. States that overall they are happy with how the Oman boys have performed. Adds that Jatinder Singh, unfortunately, got out and when your in-form batsman gets out cheaply in a big match, it puts pressure on others. Adds that he is sorry that they did not deliver but they are happy overall and are looking forward to the series against Namibia.
Josh Davey (4-0-25-3) is the Man of the Match. Says that the boys are absolutely buzzing and what a day it is for Scottish cricket. Adds that they do have an early flight to catch but there will be some celebrations tonight. Mentions that the catches did go to hand today and that bit of luck is needed. Also adds that T20 is all about momentum which they have and will be looking to take it forward and pull off some upsets as they have done in the past.
Presentation time...
At the halfway mark, when the equation was very simple, Kyle Coetzer got bowled and it gave Oman a slight opening. There was a quiet period after the Drinks break where Oman gave away only 11 runs in 3 overs but the required rate never bothered Scotland. A couple of biggies from the bat of Richie Berrington followed next and settled things well for the Scottish team. They eventually crossed the line with 3 overs to spare. Heartbreak for Oman but they did well to reach this stage. They got outplayed here but in the other two games, Oman left a big impact.
Chasing a target of 123, Scotland only needed to bat sensibly and concentrate on building partnerships. Their openers provided them with a good platform with George Munsey playing some attractive shots. After his departure, Kyle Coetzer took things under his control and formed another partnership for the second wicket. The Scottish skipper returned to form in this crucial game and put his side in a winning position.
A clinical victory for Scotland and they have booked their place in the Super 12. They were exceptional with the ball to restrict Oman to a below-par total and then their batters made short work of the target in front of them. What a day for Scottish cricket as they have qualified for the Super 12 for the first time! Scotland will go to Group 2 where they will compete with teams like India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan.
