Multan Sultans beat Peshawar Zalmi by 7 wickets
Right then! Multan Sultans have plenty of time to relax, regroup and get ready for the finals. Peshawar Zalmi on the other hand will be glued to the TVs as they wait to see who they face later. Join us on 15th March as Islamabad United will take on Quetta Gladiators in the Eliminator 1 at 9.30 pm IST (4 pm GMT) and earlier for the build up. Till then, cheers!
Mohammad Rizwan says they have worked hard for that one match, the finals and the efforts have paved off so far. Tells it is about the fine moments that they have to win and so far it has gone well for them. Tells he is happy to see the bowlers and batters in top form.
Usama Mir wins the Player of the Match award. He says Mohammad Rizwan gives a lot of confidence, his aim is to get wickets and he tries his best. Tells he bowls in the right areas and backs himself always. Reckons they have a lot of experience as a bowling unit.
...Presentation next...
Babar Azam says they were 15 runs short, they started well with the bat but in the middle order lost a couple of wickets and later didn't finish well. Adds they will try to win the next match as they still believe in themselves. Reckons they were not up to the mark with the ball. Shares Multan bowled well and they had to play accordingly and feels it could have been a bit different if they had finished well in the first innings.
Multan Sultans in the chase did well to take quick singles and hit few boundaries at the start. Mohammad Rizwan fell but Yasir Khan played really well. Usman Khan then joined him and played till the end and he along with Iftikhar Ahmed chased it down quite convincingly. Peshawar Zalmi just didn't have enough runs and the bowlers weren't up to the mark as well. Don't think they would talk much about this game, they would be looking forward to the Eliminator now.
To be fair, the win was set up by the bowlers. The way Chris Jordan and Usama Mir bowled, it was just brilliant! Chris Jordan in particular. Mir was having a great season but Jordan stepped up for his team. Accurate yorkers at great speed, it was one of the best performances by him. The others too bowled well around them. On the other side, Peshawar Zalmi started well with the bat. They were a bit cautious to not throw the wickets away but that is exactly what happened. Wickets fell, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Rovman Powell too didn't give a big finish and Peshawar Zalmi ended with a moderate total.
The runners-up of the last season are through to the finals. Multan Sultans were just too good for Peshawar Zalmi who lacked in all three departments. A quiet one-sided Qualifiers 1 to be fair but Multan Sultans have done it yet again. They are in the finals.
