Right then! That ends the campaign for the Originals in this competition. They bow out with a win, and have knocked out Trent Rockets as well. This win also means that Oval Invincibles have confirmed their second spot. That leaves us with 3 matches and one team to come for the top 3. Who will it be? We shall know when the time comes. Right now, our coverage ends for this particular game. Monday, 16th August, 2021, sees Southern Brave take on Oval Invincibles in match 30. A dead rubber as far the two are concerned. But do not go anywhere. Our punctual colleagues have already started their build-up for the Men's version of the clash between Rockets and Originals. Do hop on to that matchcentre. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Lizelle Lee, Hero of the Match, says that they wished to have a better start. Adds that Emma Lamb played really well and did her job very easy. Says that they just tried to keep it simple. Adds that she is disappointed that her form didn't click from the start. Ends by saying that she would love to play again for the Originals.
In reply, the Originals came all guns blazing. Lee and Lamb staged an opening stand of 96 in 67 balls and that set the tone for the win. Nothing went right for Manchester and it was a day and game to forget for them.
A good start is always important for a good display. Manchester bowled with complete precision, not allowing the Rockets to take off at all. Only Sammy Jo Johnson got going but when she was dismissed, the runs stopped flowing altogether. Heather Graham and Sarah Glenn tried to get some partnership going but eventually, managed to get just an average score. Everyone bowled well for Manchester.
A comfortable victory for Manchester Originals Women. It does not help them qualify but they can at least take something from the tournament with a consolation win. It was a clinical display, starting with restricting the Trent Rockets Women to a paltry score and then gunning it down dominantly.
