Presentation Time...
Earlier in the game, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders posted a good total on the board courtesy of some decent contributions from all the top five batters but especially of that fiery knock of 46 runs off just 17 balls by Andre Russell towards the end. Fazalhaq Farooqi was the pick of the bowlers for MI with three wickets while Trent Boult and Waqar Salamkheil chipped in with one each. After coming on to bat, MI Emirates made this chase look like a cakewalk and grabbed the two points quite comfortably in the end.
It was a disaster for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the field and with the ball. They conceded 89 runs in the Powerplay which put them massively on the back foot and they never really recovered. Their bowlers were taken to the cleaners and they did not help themselves by dropping a lot of chances that could have made a difference. Dre Russ created two chances in his first over but they spilled them and it was just not their day in the field as their players were treating the ball like hot lava or something. David Willey and Ali Khan picked up the only two wickets that fell but their bowlers will quickly need to forget this game and come up with a fresh mind in the next one.
MI Emirates do the double over the Knight Riders! They crunched them with the ball in the previous outing, and this time around hammered them with the bat. Their openers got off to a flier as they scored 50 inside 3 overs and went on to register the highest Powerplay score this season. They were a bit lucky on a few occasions and added over 100 runs together, but Kusal Perera got out just after reaching his fifty. Muhammad Waseem continued his onslaught alongside skipper Nicholas Pooran. They got them close to the target before Pooran was dismissed after scoring 33 off just 19 balls. It got a bit closer then they would have liked, but a six from Tim David and winning runs from the bat of Waseem who remained unbeaten on 89 got them over the line with on over to spare..
