Man of the Match
David Wiese
Commentry
So, 33 matches are done in the Pakistan Super League, 2022 and we have one final, gala event waiting between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. The red-letter day commences on Sunday, 27th February at 8 pm IST (2:30 pm GMT). But as usual, the build up will begin much early on. So do join us there. Till then, goodbye and take really good care of yourself.
Shaheen Afridi, the winning skipper says that the boys showed a fight and their plan was to take the game till the end and fight till the last ball. Credits David Wiese for his knock and says that his knock gave them the momentum in the end. Tells that as a leader and as a bowler, it is his responsibility to strike upfront. Ends by thanking the crowd for supporting them till the end.
David Wiese is the Player of the Match. He says that it was an unbelievable game and was an incredible team effort. Mentions that things got easier when Haris Rauf took the wicket of Asif Ali and then the pressure piled on them. Thanks the fans for coming out and supporting the team.
Shadab Khan, the skipper of Islamabad United says even before Mohammad Wasim's stint if they played smart cricket, they would have won. Adds Wasim is a young player and he will learn from the mistakes. Tells there were injuries but despite losing tonight, he is very happy with his team. Mentions that there are youngsters and experienced players in the team and he wants youngsters to play good domestic cricket.
Presentation coming up...
Philip Salt is up for a quick chat. He says that it was an incredible game. It see-sawed all the way but they were able to get the win. Mentions that It is unbelievable to play in Lahore as he can't hear anything at the moment. Informs that they were always above the rate with the rain coming down. States that they have been playing really well and hopefully, they will win the final as well.
Lahore Qalandars started really well and piled the pressure straightaway by taking quick wickets but they were on the back foot in the middle phase, due to a 79-run partnership but some incredible fielding from Haris Rauf opened the gates for the Qalandars again. Shaheen Afridi took a risk by ending his spell quickly but he trusted David Wiese to finish things for him. Boy, he turned up tonight. His 28 off 8 ball was pure gold while defending 8 runs off the last over was nothing short of magic as well.
Islamabad United were off to one of the worst start possible. Stirling, Jacks, Shadab Khan, Dawson all went back inside the powerplay and they were hanging on 46/4. Azam Khan came and took the pressure of Hales. He got on the front foot and started to take the charge while Hales was anchoring the innings. That partnership was looking so good but a run out changed the whole complexion. Hales went after him and then Asif Ali tried to take the game away but he was finding it difficult. Questions might be raised why Mohammad Wasim didn't take singles in the last over but it does not matter now. Even, Shadab Khan will feel unhappy regarding that decision.
Wow, what a thriller of a match we had. Just unbelievable scenes. The game was tilting till the last over but Lahore Qalandars and especially David Wiese did really well to keep the calm. If you ask me where did Islamabad United lose the match, probably the run out of Azam Khan was the turning point.
IT IS LAHORE QALANDARS WHO WILL FACE MULTAN SULTANS IN THE FINALS. Wow, what a victory for them. It was raining heavily but there was not a single sweat on David Wiese's face. First with the bat and now with the ball. Sensational stuff from him. Lahore Qalandars took the long route but they are on their way to the final destination.

OUT! TAKEN! That's it! Lahore Qalandars have won a nai-biting thriller. Slower ball from David Wiese, outside off. Waqas Maqsood slogs it in the air towards deep mid-wicket. It stayed in the air for quite long time and it looked like it will clear the ropes. But wasn't to be as Abdullah Shafique back-pedals and takes the catch at the edge of the boundary. Sensational win for Lahore Qalandars as they win by 6 runs!
Waqas Maqsood is the last batter in.

OUT! RUN OUT! Poor cricket from Islamabad United. Not only they miss out on two singles but now has lost a wicket as well. Good-length ball, outside off. Mohammad Wasim miscues his shot and drags it to deep mid-wicket. He comes back for the second run. Abdullah Shafique quickly collects the ball and throws it at the keeper's end. The throw is a bit wide but Philip Salt does well to stretch and run Wasim out. 7 needed off 3 balls now.
Shadab Khan is not happy in the dugout as Mohammad Wasim is not taking any run.

Wow! Mohammad Wasim doesn't take the single again! Pitched up, outside off. Mohammad Wasim drives it along the ground to long off.

Full and on off, Mohammad Wasim works it off the bottom edge to deep mid-wicket. Oh, that's interesting! Mohammad Wasim decides not to take the single. Is this risky? Or will Mohammad Wasim finish it off?
The known batter is gone now. Okay, before we talk about the wicket, the rain has started to pour now heavily. DLS par score is 158 so Islamabad United are ahead for now. Athar Mahmood walks out. David Wiese to bowl the final over. 8 runs needed.
