Right then! That is all we have from this game. Don't you go anywhere as the action in the Big Bash League 2021-22 continues. Cheers!
Ben McDermott is the Player of the Match! He says, it is really working out for him and he likes to stay in the middle. Adds his first job is to take on the bowlers in the Powerplay and later focus on capitalizing on the Power Surge. Mentions this win would really boost the side and hopes that they would build on it.
... Presentation Time ...
Adelaide Strikers did put up a decent total on the board and with that early wicket, would have felt that they were right on top of proceedings. Their bowlers were unable to pick up wickets in the middle overs and the spinners, in particular, Rashid Khan and Fawad Ahmed failed to have an impact on the game. Khan did pick up a wicket but it was a bit too late then. The skipper, Siddle was probably the pick of the bowlers and he will be disappointed with the overall bowling effort from his side tonight.
Just like the Strikers, Hobart Hurricanes lost a wicket really early in the chase. Then came an 81-run stand between D'Arcy Short and Ben McDermott, in which the latter did the bulk of the scoring. Short did manage 37 important runs but the star of the show was Ben McDermott. He put on a real show tonight as he smashed it to all parts of the ground and ended with 110 runs off just 60 balls. The Hurricanes ended up winning this one with ease.
What a knock we have witnessed tonight! Take a bow Ben McDermott. Hobart Hurricanes win back-to-back games and have handed a fourth loss in a row to their opponents, Adelaide Strikers tonight.
