That's all we have from this match. Perth Scorchers grab all four points from this match and have started their campaign in style. On Thursday, Adelaide Strikers will be facing Melbourne Renegades at 6.45 pm local (8.15 am GMT). You can join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Matthew Kelly (4-0-28-4) is chosen for the Player of the Match award. Starts by admitting that the last batting pair of Brisbane Heat made it hard for them but he is glad that the senior pros (Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye) took them through towards the end. Talking about his chance to get a hat-trick, Kelly replies that those moments are rare in this format but unfortunately he didn't get it. Tells us that it's a great way to start the campaign and to win in front of the home fans is very special.
Brisbane Heat struggled to find the right intent in the chase. Chris Lynn's knock was uncharacteristically very slow and his aim to bat through didn't work out. Apart from Sam Heazlett, none of the batters spent time in the middle and when Lynn got out, the writing was on the wall. However, Xavier Bartlett and Laurie Evans batted with great courage towards the end and the former made a 25-ball 34 to send jitters in the Perth camp. Matthew Kelly was the pick of the bowlers with a 4-wicket haul while the other bowlers, barring Peter Hatzoglou, were very economical.
A late scare but Perth Scorchers have prevailed in the end. It's the same old formula from them, put runs on the board and then defend it with some disciplined bowling. This evening was no different. Kurtis Patterson's strong batting handed them a fabulous start and despite losing their way in the second half, Perth had a challenging total on the board. Thereafter, their bowlers tightened the noose with some accurate bowling and never allowed Brisbane Heat any kind of momentum in the chase. The end result is there to be seen.

OUT! RUN OUT! That's it, Perth Scorchers win by 6 runs. A near-yorker around off, Xavier forces it down to long on and wants the second run. It's not available though. The fielder fires in a throw at the bowler's end, Behrendorff collects it and breaks the stumps. Liam Guthrie is well short.
