Right then, that is it from the game. Victoria have made it into the finals. The second team is yet to be decided and it all depends on the last league game which will be between the Lahore Qalandars and the Rangpur Riders on Friday, the 6th of December. The game will begin at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT). Do join us for the early build up as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Sanjay Krishnamurthi is the Player of the Match for his 77 off 49 balls. He says he enjoyed batting at the top of the order and capitalized on the hard new ball. Mentions that his partnership with Blake Macdonald was nice and he enjoyed it a lot. Talks about how well they have played throughout and mentions the importance of having a quality wrist spinner in Callum Stow.
Stay tuned for the Presentation Ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Victoria scored 170/4 in their 20 overs, a solid total for this pitch. Their openers, Blake Macdonald and Sanjay Krishnamurthi, led the charge, forming a tournament-high partnership of 137. However, the middle order struggled and lost their wickets cheaply. Hampshire struggled with early bowling, conceding many runs but improved in the latter half. Sonny Baker was their standout bowler with 2 wickets, while Liam Dawson and Benny Howell each took 1 wicket.
Victoria were excellent with the ball. They took advantage of the fact that the Hampshire side had to chase the target under just 17 overs. Callum Stow was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up four wickets and was ably supported by Jackson Smith who picked up two wickets. Max Birthisel and Karima Gore chipped in with one each and helped their side reach the finals of the Global Super League, 2024!
Coming to this match, the Hampshire side faced a challenging task, as they were set with the daunting task of chasing down a mammoth total of 170 runs within just 16.4 overs. They were off to a good start. They had a huge target so they had to go big and due to this, they were marred by a series of unfortunate dismissals. They lost a wicket whenever a partnership was brewing for them. They just kept on losing wickets and were finally bowled out for a mere 95 as they lost the game by 75 runs!
So, Hampshire has been eliminated from contention. Conversely, Victoria has successfully secured their place in the finals by finishing among the top two teams in the standings. On the other side, the Guyana Amazon Warriors are still in a precarious position, as their qualification for the finals hinges on the outcome of the upcoming match between Lahore Qalandars and Rangpur Riders. For the Amazon Warriors to secure a spot in the finals, they need Rangpur to win the game but without surpassing their net run rate.

On a length and on middle, Danny Briggs looks to flick it but hits his pads. A loud appeal but the finger has stayed down. Victoria refer. The replays show that it was just clipping the bails and the Umpire's call stands NOT OUT! It was a close one though!
Danny Briggs walks in.
OUT! RUN OUT! Lands it on off, Fuller taps it to mid off for one. Wood wanted a double but was sent back by Fuller. He has a lazy run back as the fielder makes a direct hit at the keeper's end. The umpire checks and the replays show that Wood was short. He makes his way as Hampshire now go eight down.
