Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs
Right then, that is from this exciting encounter where Gujarat puts a dent in Chennai's qualification hopes. However, the action in the Indian T20 League continues on 11th May Saturday. Kolkata takes on Mumbai at the Eden Gardens and that game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to the match. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Shubman Gill, the victorious skipper of Gujarat is also the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his exceptional ton. He says that he just has a cramp and nothing more. Adds that when so many people support you and your every run it becomes easier. Tells that he and Sai just were picking their moments and maximized whenever the opportunity arose. Mentions that he loves to bat with Sai and they have a good camaraderie as they run well and know each other well too and in terms of numbers it is their best opening stand. Praises Mohit Sharma for his efforts and says that he was a revelation last season and a few bad games here and there do not make him a bad bowler. Says that at one point they thought 250 was up for taking but Chennai bowled well in the last few overs and they were 10-15 runs short in terms of the NRR.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of Chennai says that they gave away 10-15 runs extra and weren't the best on the field, and with two batters who were hitting all around the field they couldn't do much and couldn't find that wicket. Adds that playing a day game in Chennai after a quick flight against a strong side will be challenging but they look forward to it.
Presentation Time...
Rashid Khan is down for a quick chat. He says that it was amazing to see both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan go like that and that was something special. Adds that he is happy to get a couple of wickets and the body is getting better slowly and hopes to be 100 percent fit soon. talks about MS Dhoni and says that he has a different kind of love across the globe and is very happy to play with him and the energy he brings on is great too.
Earlier in the game, Gujarat posted a mammoth total on the board courtesy of a recording-breaking opening stand of 210 runs between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Both of them were sensational and also notched up their respective hundreds as well. For Chennai, taking wickets was a tough task and they got their first in the 18th over as Tushar Deshpande ended up with two wickets while the other was a run out on the last ball of their innings. While chasing, Chennai's top order failed but Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali gave them some hope. However, once they were dismissed no one could really get a move on as they fell short by 35 runs in the end.
Gujarat, on the other hand, were brilliant with the new ball. David Miller set the tone with a brilliant run out while Sandeep Warrier got a wicket in the first ball of his spell. Rashid Khan took a blinder in front of the ropes to get rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The middle overs didn't go as they would expected with both the spinners being a bit expensive and allowed the opposition to come back in the game. However, it was that man with the golden arm, Mohit Sharma who turned the game once again by getting rid of both the set batters and also the big wicket of Shivam Dube. After that, Rashid came in and dismissed Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner in the same over to all but confirm the win.
Chennai needed a brisk start but they suffered a massive blow in the very first over as Rachin Ravindra got run out. Ajinkya Rahane followed suit on the next delivery and they were on the back foot right from the start. Ruturaj Gaikwad demoted himself to number 3 but that didn't work as he couldn't make much impact but was a bit unfortunate as well as it was a great catch by Rashid Khan. However, after that, Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali steadied their ship for a while and they needed that partnership. The duo added 109 runs together and registered their respective fifties as well at a good rate but unfortunately lost their wickets in quick succession. They didn't have any time to rebuild, so Shivam Dube went back after a quick cameo. Ravindra Jadeja played a few lusty blows and MS Dhoni made 26 off just 11 balls to reduce the margin of loss.
GUJARAT JUST ABOUT STAYS ALIVE IN THE TOURNAMENT! Although they do not have everything in their own hands, they can hurt a lot of teams just like they did Chennai in this game. It was the Gill-Sudarshan show in the first half and their bowlers backed it up pretty well in the second. Chennai suffered a big defeat at a crucial stage of the season and took a hit at their NRR which is not at all ideal for them.

FOUR! Gets it right this time does, MS Dhoni! This is shorter and drifting into the pads, MS Dhoni picks the length right this time and whips it behind the square on leg side for a boundary to end the innings. Gujarat win this game by 35 runs!

This is nice and full on middle and turning back in sharp, MS Dhoni looks to pull it with a high backlift but misses. The ball clips his pads and rolls over to short fine leg.

Goes full and on off, MS Dhoni drills it powerfully to long on but doesn't take the single.

A huge appeal by Rashid Khan for LBW and the umpire turns it down. Rahul Tewatia sends it upstairs for the review. Bowls it nice and full around middle and gets the ball to turn back in sharply, MS Dhoni plants his front leg ahead and looks to block but is beaten onto his pads. The replay rolls on and the UltraEdge confirms that there was no bat involved. The Ball Tracking shows that the ball was pitching in line and the impact was in line but the wickets were missing as the ball was drifting over the leg stump line. The onfield call of NOT OUT stays and the crowd erupts!

SIX! Wow, that's as good as it can get for the crowd here! Tossed up into the stumps, MS Dhoni takes a couple of steps ahead and flicks it over mid-wicket for a maximum.
Who will bowl the last over? It will be Rashid Khan. MS Dhoni will look to score as much as possible to avoid a big defeat.
