Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the winning captain and the Player of the Match as well he says that it is nice to have a win here. Adds that obviously it has not been a good start for them but they have played good cricket to win the two games. Tells that the bumper that hit his helmet woke him up and he was not expecting that especially here where it stays low a touch. Mentions that the plan was to attack throughout with the bat and then the bowlers also chipped in with the wickets. Says that that the plan was to not give loose balls to Hales and this win gives them a lot of confidence. Further says that the bowlers were on point but they can still do a few things better with the bat. Ends by saying that winning with not a complete performance is good as that means they still have a lot to give.
Colin Munro, the losing captain says that it was a disappointing performance and appreciates the team for putting up a good fight. Adds that there was a bit of panic towards the end. Mentions that taking catches was tough on this ground and he isn't worried about them and it involves certain factors as well. Appreciates his bowlers for bowling brilliantly and mentions the excellent bowling effort by Luke Wood. Says that they will rest and mentally prepare for the next match and he doesn't doubt the skills of his players.
The Presentation ceremony…
Earlier in the game, Sharjah Warriors posted a decent total with a magnificent 101-run partnership between skipper Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Martin Guptill with the captain smashing 68 off just 34 balls. However, they would have been a bit disappointed as at one point it looked like they would get something around 200. Wood was excellent with the ball for Desert Vipers with three wickets while Hasaranga also picked up three in one over. Afridi got one as well, but they did drop a lot of chances.
The Desert Vipers fought hard and bravely but they fell short of a few runs. Colin Munro couldn't do any damage and he was dismissed very early in the match. Adam Hose looked good initially but he too couldn't take his innings deep. Alex Hales fought bravely and took the attack to the bowlers but he didn't receive much support from any of the other batters. Azam Khan came in and helped Hales score a few boundaries but Alex Hales was dismissed soon after. Azam Khan continued his attack but he was caught short of his crease. After that, the game just turned away from them and they failed to chase down the total. It was a fighting effort but they end up on the losing side. They are still searching for their second win of the tournament.
A nail-biting encounter but it ends in the favor of the Sharjah Warriors. They started off well with Chris Woakes dismissing the opposition skipper, Colin Munro off the very second ball of the innings. Muhammad Jawadullah also struck in his first over and sent Adam Hose back to the dugout before he could switch gears. Daniel Sams also kept the tradition of taking a wicket in their first over as he took the wicket of Wanindu Hasaranga. Lewis Gregory sent Rohan Mustafa packing off to the dugout. Alex Hales and Azam Khan were batting explosively and it was Chris Woakes again who sent his fellow countryman, Alex Hales back towards the dug out. Tom Kohler-Cadmore had a perfect throw that caught Azam Khan short of the crease and that was the crucial moment in the game. After that some brilliant death bowling made sure that the batters don't get to score runs.
