Right then, another doubleheader day in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 has flown by and we are yet to see the chasing team win in Sylhet. We will be staying in Sylhet but the action will now resume on Monday, 29 January with yet another doubleheader. The first match will be played between Sylhet Strikers and Chattogram Challengers and will begin at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT) but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
The skipper of Rangpur Riders, Nurul Hasan says that he is happy with the win. Adds that the main thing was that the top order batters got runs and in the end, Azmatullah Omarzai and Shamim Hossain too got runs in the death. Concludes by saying that the bowlers did a fine job.
Babar Azam is the Player of the Match for his brilliant 62. He says that he just tried to do his best and then they were able to build a partnership as there was a bit of swing and seam early on and credits all the players who added to this win. Adds that the conditions here are different coming in from New Zealand but he is just trying to enjoy his batting and do his best.
The Presentation ceremony...
Mosaddek Hossain, the captain of Durdanto Dhaka says that they lost a couple of early wickets and it was chasable which made things difficult. Adds that the catch of Babar Azam was a crucial miss and the loss of a couple of overs from Taskin Ahmed also hurt them as he has a back issue and they didn't want to take any risks.
Credit is due to the Rangpur Riders' exceptional bowling display, which stifled the opposition and restricted their scoring opportunities. The collective effort of the Riders' bowlers proved instrumental in securing a resounding victory, marking a significant triumph for the team. With a comprehensive win under their belt, the Riders celebrate a dominant performance, while Durdanto Dhaka reflects on areas for improvement as they strive to bounce back stronger in future encounters.
The chase was a stark contrast to the first innings where we saw the likes of Babar Azam, Nurul Hasan and Azmatullah Omarzai being able to score crucial runs and stick around on the crease for a while. During the chase though, Durdanto Dhaka lost a couple of big wickets early and only one batter in the top four got into double figures. All rested on the shoulders of the middle order where skipper Mosaddek Hossain built up a steady stand with Alex Ross but it was always a bridge too far. Despite a lone effort from Alex Ross, who showcased resilience with a well-compiled 51 runs, the rest of the batting lineup faltered, resulting in a disappointing total of just 104 runs.
Taskin Ahmed is the last man in for Durdanto Dhaka. Well, he was supposed to be the last man in but has picked up a niggle which is the reason he didn't even bowl later in the first innings and Durdanto Dhaka have suffered a huge loss here. As the final overs conclude, Rangpur Riders emerge triumphant in a commanding fashion, clinching victory by a convincing margin of 79 runs. Despite facing the adversity of losing the toss and being tasked with setting a formidable target, the Riders displayed commendable resilience and batting prowess to post a challenging total of 184 runs. Their determined effort laid the foundation for a dominant performance, setting the stage for an imposing defense.

OUT! CAUGHT! Up, up and straight to the man. Mahedi Hasan tosses this one up nicely on middle and leg, inviting the big shot. Shoriful Islam hits through the line of the ball and lofts it straight down to long on where Mohammad Nabi reverse-cups it nicely. Well then, Taskin Ahmed seems unfit to come out to bat and taht will be the end of the game. Rangpur Riders win by 79 runs!

OUT! TIMBER! Alex Ross now perishes and Durdanto Dhaka are on the verge of being bundled out here. Full and straight, gets it to drift does Mahedi Hasan and takes just a bit of pace off it. Ross stays deep in the crease and looks for the big slog-sweep but misses it completely. The ball goes on to knock over the off stump and Ross departs after a valiant.
Strategic break! Rangpur Riders have dominated with the ball here and are just 3 wickets away from the win. Despite a well-fought 50 from Alex Ross, Durdanto Dhaka are in heaps of trouble at the moment and are on the verge of another loss. Also, Shoriful Islam is the new man in.
