Fortune Barishal beat Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets

Right then, we bid farewell to BPL 2024 with Fortune Barishal becoming the champions for the first time. Cricketing actions continue from across the globe and to catch some of it, all you need to do is switch tabs and more cricketing action awaits. Until next time, cheers!
Tamim Iqbal, the skipper of the winning team starts by thanking Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim as they won it for the first time. He continues praising the players and acknowledges the importance of having an experienced squad. Also stated that there is a lot of pressure in the tournament but it's all about how the players absorb it. Ends up saying that a lot of people talk a lot about shorter formats but he reckons that sticking to the basics is most important.
The losing skipper of Comilla Victorians, Litton Das is up for a quick chat and says unfortunately they did not play well today and it happens at times. Adds that they had a couple of soft dismissals and those dropped chances along with a poor start with the ball in the powerplay didn't go well. Mentions that they thought of sending Andre Russell earlier but at the end, anything over 150 was good on this track but they failed with the ball costing them the title.
Kyle Mayers wins the Player of the Final for his exquisite knock and his precise bowling. He says that he is happy to get the play time after not playing much for the past two months. He continues that he didn't do the whole thing alone, his team backed him equally and it's all about the combined effort of a team. Also states that Fortune Barishal made him feel welcome. Ends up saying everyone supported and backed him up, especially his skipper, Tamim Iqbal.
The player of the series goes to Tamim Iqbal for his brilliance with the bat as well as his brilliant leadership skills throughout the campaign.
The highest run-scorer of the tournament award goes to the skipper of Fortune Barishal Tamim Iqbal. He scored 492 runs in total.
The best bowler of the tournament goes to Shoriful Islam of Durdanto Dhaka for his 22 wickets.
The best fielder of the tournament award goes to Mohammad Naim of Durdanto Dhaka for his 8 catches.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
James Fuller is up for a quick chat and he says it has been unbelievable in the last week or so as they have had to dig deep and now to win this feels amazing. Adds that it has been a pleasant surprise to get the carry and swing from the surface here in Bangladesh.
Some happy faces are up for a quick chat and one of those is Kyle Mayers and he says that winning the title means a lot to him. First, he was struggling to get into to be in the starting lineup, but he is happy with the ending. He continues that there's a lot of energy in the dugout between the players and even the support staff. States that the fans have been brilliant throughout the season. Closes by saying he is looking forward to seeing more West Indies players in BPL.
Earlier in the game, after batting first Comilla Victorians managed to put 154 on the board thanks to a late cameo from Andre Russell. The side started well but lost the plot completely after the powerplay. The ploy to promote Mahidul Islam Ankon failed miserably with the team left in the middle of the desert with just 115 on board after 16.4 overs. Mahidul Islam Ankon did score 38 but struggled big time and so did Jaker Ali scoring in mid 10s. The bowling from Fortune Barishal was brilliant barring that expensive 19th over from James Fuller who picked up a couple in the game. Others around him picked up wickets as well.
The bowlers were put under pressure straight away and were not able to bounce back from the onslaught by the Fortune Barishal openers. The side did bounce back with Moeen Ali taking a couple in quick succession but the sting was quickly taken out of it by a counterattack by Kyle Mayers. Mustafizur Rahman picked up a couple later in the innings but that wasn't enough to stop the juggernaut of Fortune Barishal lift the title.
Runs on board is always handy on the big occasions but Fortune Barishal batters weren't fazed by a mere 154. Chasing down a tricky total, the openers of Fortune Barishal started well and were off the block right from the get-go. The duo of Tamim Iqbal and Mehidy Hasan scored 59 in the powerplay and wracked havoc on the bowlers of Comilla Victorians. The duo added 76 for the first wicket and gave their side a rocking start in the Final. The side lost a couple in quick succession but the arrival of Kyle Mayers at the crease kept the scoring rate in check and made an easy deal of this target. Kyle Mayers along with Mushfiqur Rahim knitted a partnership of 59 in 43 deliveries and saw the side home. Kyle Mayers was the top scorer as he scored 46 runs while everybody else chipped in with key contributions.
Fortune Barishal gets fourth time lucky as they win the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 edition after defeating Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets.

FOUR! What a way to end the game and David Miller finishes it off with style! This one is back of a length outside off. David Miller cuts and cuts hard through the cover and gets a boundary beginning the fireworks. And like that Fortune Barishal will engrave their name on the trophy for the first time in the history of Bangladesh Premiere League, winning against Comilla Victorians by 6 wickets!

Back of a length, on middle, shaping towards the batter. Mahmudullah dabs it towards the backward point. The fielder has a shy at the striker's end but misses. The backup fails to collect the ball which costs a single for Comilla Victorians.
