Right then, that is all we have from this run-fest. It is the Chattogram Challengers who opened their account while Khulna Tigers are still searching their first win. However, the action in the Bangladesh Premier League continues on 10th January, Tuesday where he have a double-header lined up. The first game will see Fortune Barishal take on Rangpur Riders and that game will start at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT). The next match will be played between Minister Group Dhaka and Sylhet Strikers which will start at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT). Do join us in advance for the build-up of both games. Cheers!
Shuvagata Hom, the victorious skipper of Chattogram Challengers says that he is really happy with the way the two openers batted. They set a solid platform up top which got them over the line with ease.
Usman Khan is the PLAYER OF THE MACTH for his match-winning century. He says that the plan was to stay at the wicket and take the game deep. Adds that once they got the feel of the ball it was a lot easier to hit the shots. Mentions that he and Max O'Dowd already had practice sessions together which helped them understand each other. Ends by saying that it is a good feeling to get a century and win the game as well.
Yasir Ali, the captain of Khulna Tigers starts by saying that they could've bowled well. Mentions that they missed out on taking a couple of chances in the field. Adds that the tournament has just started and informs that they still have ten matches in hand to turn the campaign around.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the innings, after being asked to bat first Chattogram Challengers posted a good total on the board thanks to a brilliant century from Azam Khan and a good contribution from Tamim Iqbal. However their bowlers were unable to defend the target as they were blown away by Max O'Dowd and Usman Khan. The latter also scored an unbeaten ton in reply to get his side home safely.
Khulna Tigers looked out of sorts right from the start. Their bowlers did not trouble the batters enough and were unable to get those breakthroughs. Their fielding was also not up to the mark as they dropped a few chances as well. Although they were a bit unlucky as there were few high balls which landed in no man's land. The lone dismissal was effected by Nahidul Islam and Wahab Riaz also bowled quite economically, but other were a bit too expensive which costed them the game in the end. Spare a thought for Azam Khan who registered his maiden T20 hundred in the first innings, but ended up on the losing side.
Chattogram Challengers looked like a totally different batting unit in this game compared to their previous game. They came out to chase with a positive intent with both their openers trying to be aggressive. Although, there were a few nervy moments at the start of the innings, once they got set it was not going back. Max O'Dowd got to his fifty and got out, but before that he and Usman Khan added 141 runs for the first wicket which is the highest for any wicket in this edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. However, Usman Khan continued to find the middle of the bat and found the fence with ease. In the end he along with Afif finished off things and got their side over the line. Usman Khan remained unbeaten on 103 off just 58 balls and fittingly hit the winning runs.
Take a bow, Usman Khan! A remarkable unbeaten hundred from him and he took his side over the line with ease. Chattogram Challengers get their first win of the season, but Khulna Tigers will be disappointed of how things panned out in this game.
