Right then, that is all we have from this triple-header Thursday! It has been a fascinating day of cricket and we will be back on Friday with another triple-header. The first match will be played between Northen Warriors and Deccan Gladiators and it will start at 5.30 pm IST (12 pm GMT). Our build-up for that game will start in advance. So do join us for the same.Till then, it’s goodbye and cheers!
Kieron Pollard, the skipper of New York Strikers says that they could have done better with the bat and their bowlers learned from the last game and came back better in this game. Mentions that this format is more fast than any format and one needs to be smarter while making decisions. Adds that after the last game, they had discussions were they can do better and hopes that they can improve further in the tournament.
Akeal Hosein, the Player of the Match says that he did not expect the wicket to spin looking at the grass on the wicket. Shares that he decides at the top of the mark what to bowl. Adds that it is important to have a game plan and execute it. Mentions that they have a good leader in the form of Kieron Pollard. Ends by saying that it is all about the playing with full potential on the park and enjoying the challenge.
Presentation time..
Jordan Thompson is down for a chat now. He says that they were unlucky last night and things didn’t go their way. Adds that he is happy to get the win tonight. Feels that they had a average total on the board but the way bowlers bowled was impressive. Ends by saying that they will relax on Friday and get back on the park on Saturday.
The Chennai Braves, well, they have only themselves to blame here. Their batters just could not shown any application and never threatened to chase this total. Carlos Brathwaite and Vriitya Aravind were the only ones who made some notable scores but overall they need to be lot better than this with the bat, if they do want to win matches in this tournament. With the ball, James Fuller was the shining light and they were in with a great chance to win this one at the halfway mark but they just could not show any fight with the bat.
In the first half of the game, New York Strikes struggled with the bat after a whirlwind knock from Paul Stirling at the top of the order. The cameos by Shepherd and Thompson took them to 99 but they needed a good effort with the ball and they did exactly that. Akeal Hosein set the tone upfront with a wicket of Malan off the second delivery of the first over. He was very hard to get away in his two overs and finished with two wickets for just 6 runs. All other bowlers continued the good work done by him with Thompson also picking two wickets while Romario Shepherd and Riaz chipped in with a wicket each. Overall, it was a dominating bowling performance by the Strikers.
New York Strikers are underway in this tournament courtesy of a superb bowling performance! Have to say, they were under the pump coming into the second half but they were simply brilliant with the ball and nowhere in the chase, The Chennai Braves were able to challenge New York Strikers here.
