That’s it then from this series. It was Bangladesh who won the first. They had a chance of creating history by winning a T20I series for the first time in New Zealand but that was not the case as the Kiwis managed to level it. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mitchell Santner share the trophy for now. We hope you enjoyed our company. Until next time, goodbye and take care.
Najmul Hossain Shanto says the bowlers did a great job. Adds the batters got a start but didn't take their innings deep.
Shoriful Islam wins the Player of the Series award.
Mitchell Santner wins the Player of the Match award. He says it was nice to win, he changed pace often to get the wickets. Adds the seamers started well and he just had to continue bowling good. Shares they knew about the forecast and reckons it was a tough series.
...Presentation...
Credit to Bangladesh for the way they fought. Shoriful Islam and Mahedi Hasan were excellent. They were brilliant in the field too, they just did not have enough runs on the board. Maybe another 25 runs and things could have been different but they can be proud of the fight shown by their bowlers.
So, inevitably it is the Kiwis who win by DLS as the match is called off and level the series but it was not as easy as we thought it would be. They really hard to work hard to get to this small total. They were three down in no time. Allen and Chapman then tried to steady the ship but both fell quickly with the Kiwis still needing over 50. Santner and Neesham played really well, took calculated risks and ensured there were no upsets.
Update 8.30 am IST (3 pm GMT) - The rain has gotten heavier and the covers are coming on. The players are walking off the field and we are in for a delay. New Zealand are well ahead on DLS.
It has started to rain now...
