That is it from this game. New Zealand are underway in the triangular series. The action continues as New Zealand will face Pakistan on 11th October. The match will start at 7.30 am IST (2 am GMT). Do join us early for the coverage. Till then, cheers!
Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand says Bangladesh played nicely in the Powerplay but they pulled it well back with the spin. Adds there are many things to take into account while bowling the spinners but all three bowled well. On Ish Sodhi, he is amazing and aggressive and has won a lot of matches, hope there are plenty more to come. Shares that it was unusual to see caches going down but hopes to get better. On Adam Milne going off the field, Kane replies that there are few niggles going on, the schedule is tight going into the World Cup but they need to be smart with the players.
Shakib Al Hasan, the skipper of Bangladesh says the Kiwis bowled really well. Adds they never got the momentum, the batters tried to go for big shots but holed out. Shares that it is not happening for them but they will keep improving. Tells there were spinners bowling in the middle phase so that is why he came down the order. Reckons the bowlers have been good and the fielders have been backing really well. Says the next two games will be crucial and hopes to build some momentum
Michael Bracewell is the Player of the Match. He says their bowlers have the experience and it is challenging sometimes in the nets but exciting as well. Adds they have a good group of spinners and he is picking brains from all of them. Applauds Ish Sodhi's performance. Reckons he tries to contribute with the bat as well, he will do whatever the team asks for.
...Presentation coming up...
Earlier, New Zealand did well after choosing to bowl first. They kept Bangladesh under control throughout the innings. All the bowlers had a great day. In reply, it was a convincing performance with the bat by New Zealand.
Bangladesh were good in the first 6 overs or so but in the middle overs, their spinners weren't as effective as they would have wanted them to be. However, the bowlers just did not have enough to play with. On this wicket, 137 is really difficult to defend.
A comfortable win for the Kiwis. 138 was always under par and the Kiwis have chased it down quite easily. They went about it quite sensibly. Devon Conway was the mainstay and the rest batted around him. They needed one good partnership and it came, it was between Kane Williamson and Conway and that partnership more or less sealed the deal for them.
