Australia beat Zimbabwe by 5 wickets
Right then! That is it from this game. The next one is a must win for Zimbabwe and they have to come up with better plans. The second ODI is on 31st August at 5.10 am IST (11.40 pm GMT, the previous day). Do join us for the build up as well. Cheers!
Cameron Green is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his maiden five-wicket haul. Green says he needed to realize what the wicket is doing and then bowl accordingly. Adds he wanted to hit the back of the length area and it worked. Informs he enjoys fishing over golf.
Regis Chakabva, the skipper of Zimbabwe says he felt the wicket was tricky, they though did not have enough on the board. Mentions they did not finish well with the bat and with the ball, the start was not that great. Ends by saying they need to work on the positives and hope to do well in the next game.
Aaron Finch, the skipper of Australia says the ball was doing a bit throughout and they finished well with the ball. Mentions the preparation is same against every team and they were well prepared for this game. Reckons Mitchell Starc is one of the best bowlers in the world and his contribution has been exceptional and Green was outstanding and it is great he got a fifer.
...Presentation coming up...
Earlier, Zimbabwe were bundled out to an under-par score thanks to Cameron Green's fifer and Adam Zampa's three wickets. Australia fancied a win and in the end, they won comfortably by 5 wickets.
Zimbabwe can be pleased with how they bowled! Especially Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl who were outstanding. The latter ended with three and gave Zimbabwe the slightest of chances. However, they just did not have enough on the board.
Then the Aussie batters batted with intent. Steven Smith was the anchor and the others played their shots. There were a couple of decent innings with David Warner's fifty giving the perfect start but Smith was the mainstay with a half ton. There was a period when Australia might have felt a little pressure when they lost three quickly but Glenn Maxwell and Steven Smith ensured no more wickets fell and took their side over the line.
A comfortable win in the end for the hosts and they go 1-0 up in the three-match series! The victory however was set up in the first innings itself as Cameron Green's fifer saw Zimbabwe being bundled out for a low score.
